Gizdodo (updated Recipe)

Hi guys, how are you all doing? so today’s recipe isn’t rwally new on the blog. But I however have updated the taste. I like to ensure my readers have varieties.

Today’s recipe is popular at parties and at home. Who ever thought of this is a genius I tell you! Just imagine getting a spoonful of dodo sautΓ©ed in a delicious sauce with slightly grilled gizzard. Oh oh oh!!!! Lol. Dont mind me πŸ™‚

Let’s get started shall we


8 large Plantains
2 large Onions
3 scotch bonnet peppers
1 large Tatashe
3 medium sized tomatoes
Red pepper
Green pepper
Orange pepper
1 teaspoon of all purpose seasoning
1 teaspoon of chicken seasoning
1 teaspoon of curry
Knorr cube
1 1/2 cup of Vegetable oil (I don’t like too much oil)


Chopping board
Medium sized pot
Wooden spoon
Baking tray
Frying pan

Prep time : 15 minutes
Cooking time :

Method :
Blend the plum tomatoes, tatashe, onions and scotch bonnet peppers. Cook until the water dries up. (20 minutes)

Peel and cut the plantain into small bite sized pieces.


Next, Blend half of the onions. If you don’t have time to do that, substitute it with onion granules. You will still, get the same taste.

Heat up the oil. Once the oil is hot, add the onion granules/blended onions. Fry until the aroma takes over the oil. (1 minute)

Next add the chopped plantain and fry until all has been fried. Lol. I like my dodo very very brown, so pardon me πŸ˜©πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

(The dodo will taste different and more delicious. Even your guest will ask you what you put in it) Onions should never be overrated.

Chop and finely dice the peppers and set aside.

Wash and remove any dry skin from the gizzard. Add it to the pot, season sparsely with onion powder, ginger,  garlic and cook for 35 minutes.


After 35 minutes, the gizzard should be cooked, remove from the pot, drain the stock. (If it shrinks, don’t be alarmed. It happens.)

Add the gizzard to the baking tray and grill for 10 minutes. until its brown and crispy (as if it were fried)


Next back to the cooked pepper, add half of the oil used to fry the plantain. 
Next add the seasonings, allow it to cook through for 5 minutes. 
Next add the grilled gizzard, allow it to cook for 10 minutes.


Next add the chopped peppers. Cook for 5 minutes.


Finally add the fried plantain with the remaning oil. Add the half of the knorr cube and mix very well. Reduce the heat and let it mix/cook for 12 minutes.



That’s it. You are done. How easy was that πŸ™‚ well done. I am proud of you allπŸ‘
